Truth

Our mission is to find the truth.

Nothing is as essential as the truth, because everything else depends on it. Nothing is a precious as the truth, since it is unique, and after truth, there is only falsehood and lies. Nothing is as liberating as the truth, because only the truth remains when everything else has withered away.

For a human being with awareness, life is full of questions: Who are we? Why are we here? What is the purpose of life? Is there a God? Does He care? Is He communicating with us? Why is there evil in this world? Why do we see innocent people suffer? What is the difference between good and evil? Why should we care?

Since humankind can remember, people have always engaged in these questions and offered many answers, some better and some worse. And since humankind can remember, people have always offered justifications why their answers are better than the answers of other people.

Some suggest we accept their answers in an act of blind faith. We believe that while blind faith can sometimes be good and necessary, it is not a substitute for knowing the truth.

Some suggest that it behoves the common person to submit to people in authority. We believe that while sometimes it may be good and necessary to submit to authority, it is not a substitute for knowing the truth.

Some suggest that we listen to them because they are closer to God the Praised and Most High than others. We believe that every person has a personal relationship with God, especially when it comes to finding the truth, and we need no intermediary.

Some suggest that we listen to them because they are smarter and knowledgeable than us. We gladly listen to people smarter and more knowledgeable than us, but we believe that when it comes to finding the truth, every person has to judge for themselves.

Some suggest that there is more than one truth, so that we can choose whichever truth suits us best. We believe that while there may be different angles from which one can look at the truth, there is only one truth and whatever contradicts with the truth is not truth.

Some suggest that we should choose our beliefs according to loyalty with some community. We believe that when it comes to finding the truth, there is no loyalty to any other person.

Some suggest that we should give up, because the truth can not be really found. We believe that the truth can be known if we look for it.

Some suggest that we find the truth by listening to our heart. We gladly listen to our heart, but we believe that what really tells us the truth is our reason.

Some suggest that we do not need to listen to our reason, because there is divine revelation. We believe that it is our reason that confirms the truth in divine revelation and enables us to understand it, and that it is divine revelation that tells us to use our reason.

Some suggest that reason contradicts revelation. We believe that true revelation never contradicts true reason, and those who feel it does have been following the wrong revelation or the wrong reason - most likely both.

Some suggest that only God can guide. We agree, but we believe that He guides us through our reason if we care.

Averroes

We are inspired by the great Muslim scholar Abul-Walid Ibn Rushd, known in the West as Averroes, who did a great service to all of mankind, when he demonstrated in detail, that Islamic religious teachings and the philosophy of Aristotle are compatible. Averroes influenced not only Muslim thinkers, but also Christian scholars like Thomas Aquinas and Jewish scholars like Maimonides. Averroes caused a revolution which forever changed the way that Muslims, Christians and Jews view their religion

We believe this revolution is far from over, but has only just begun. As human reason has continued to progress in the age of science, technology and information, this has opened gates to a new understanding of our religion. We are eager to enter these gates and explore to find new treasures.

Community

We reach out to every person in the world who understands the importance of knowing the truth and who believes that every person can find the truth through reason.

We provide a community that encourages the use of reason and revelation for helping each other finding the truth for themselves. Come to us with your questions: Whatever question moves you, we believe it deserves to be asked and it deserves, God willing, to be answered.

Stop by to ask, to answer, to make friends or just to satisfy your curiousity. Even if you feel you have been brainwashed a thousand times, still come.
